Locktober Day 14: Two Weeks Down, and a Letter for Later
Share
Day fourteen of my 31-day series for men locking up alone. Two full weeks locked. Today you look at how far you have come, and you prepare for the part of the month that asks the most of you.
Your task today, part one: compare your weeks
Open your log and put week one next to week two. Look at three numbers:
-
Your average comfort score. Has it gone up as you adjusted the fit and started rotating?
-
Your urge counts. Most men see these drop once the shortcuts are gone and the novelty has settled.
-
Your skin notes. Fewer red spots in week two usually means your hygiene routine and rotation are doing their job.
Then write two or three sentences about what feels different now compared to the first days. Your mood, your sleep, your focus, how often you think about the device. Keep your day one sentence sealed for now. You will open it tomorrow.
Your task today, part two: the letter
Write a short letter to yourself, to be opened on your hardest day between now and the end of the month.
Write it while you feel steady, which is exactly why today is the right day. Tell your future self what you know right now: why you started, what you have already achieved, what has surprised you, and why the last stretch is worth finishing. Be kind and be honest. Then seal it in an envelope and keep it somewhere you will find it.
Why this matters
The next ten days are the hardest part of Locktober for almost everyone. The excitement of starting has faded, the finish is still far away, and continuing becomes purely a matter of will. Somewhere between day fifteen and day twenty-two, most men hit a wall.
That wall is normal. It is a known part of the month, and reaching it means you have arrived at the real challenge. What helps most is support from outside your own tired head, and alone, that support has to come from you. A letter written by the calm, proud version of you from day fourteen is the best keyholder you could have on the evening you want to quit.
Post your check-in
Share your week two update in your community. Day fourteen, your comfort level, what has changed, and one thing you are proud of. Reading other men's week two posts is also a good way to see that they are feeling the same things you are.
Tomorrow: the halfway ritual. In the meantime, visit my instagram for more locktober content, send me your story, questions, and read about other people's experience.
