Your Locktober Shopping List, Sorted by Budget

So you have decided to do Locktober. 

A month is a long time to wear something continuously, and the things that feel fine over a weekend could ( and will) behave very differently by week three. So here is what I would actually buy, sorted by what you want to spend.

Start with this: you want more than one device

Even a cage that fits you perfectly sits against the same patch of skin every single day, and after a week or two of continuous wear that area starts to complain. Irritation, soreness, rubbing in exactly the same spot. This is simply what happens when pressure lands in one place for long enough.

Rotating between devices moves the contact points. The skin that has been taking the pressure gets a break, and the relief is immediate. This is one of the most useful thing I can tell you about surviving a full month.

How you rotate depends on where you are:

If this is your first Locktober, stay within the same type and material. Save the experiments for another month. Get two of something you already know suits you and swap between them.

If you have done this before and you want the month to be more interesting, mix the styles. A steel cage one week, a harness the next, something softer when you need the break. And the change in sensation alone could keep the whole thing alive and more exciting.

Under $100: the first-timer setup

This is gonna be enough to get you through the month.

Two soft-body cages in the same style. Silicone or TPR, comfortable, forgiving on sizing, easy to clean. Something like the Detained Soft Body or the Dark Chamber. Two of these gives you your rotation and still leaves room in the budget.

A multi-ring starter kit. If you are still working out your size, a device that ships with several ring sizes is worth more than a single perfect-looking cage. The CB6000S kit does this well. You will find your real size in the first week and be glad you had options.

Water-based lubricant. Buy it. You will use it every time you put the device on and after every shower. Beware of silicone based lubricant as they could damage the devices.  ( If you ask me nicely on instagram, I will ship one for you for free with every device you buy from me.) 

A soft cleaning brush or cotton swabs with a good device cleaner. For getting around the ring and hinge while the device stays on. 

Total: comfortably under $100, and a solid first Locktober.

Around $200: the proper setup

You know your size, you have done this before, and you want the month to be comfortable rather than survived.

One quality primary cage. Something you will actually want to wear for weeks. A well-made polycarbonate or a lighter stainless steel design with an integrated lock, so the month passes without a padlock catching on your clothing. My choice would be either the CB-6000 or the Rikers.

One backup in a different material. Your rotation device. If your primary is steel, make this a softer one. Your skin will thank you around day twelve. If (!) you are a disciplined man, you might even try something like this.

Numbered plastic security locks. Ten of them costs very little and completely changes the dynamic. Your keyholder can see at a glance whether the seal has been broken, and that accountability is more psychologically interesting than a padlock.

Lubricant and cleaning supplies, same as above.

$250 and up: the serious month

For people who take this seriously, or keyholders who want to make October properly memorable.

A premium primary device. Stainless steel, built for continuous wear, comfortable enough for the long haul. This is where a Rikers or a Forged Captor style cage earns its price, because 24/7 wear is exactly what they are designed for.

Two rotation devices in different styles. Here is where mixing gets fun. A harness or belt alongside your cage gives you a completely different sensation and different contact points. The change keeps week three interesting.

A chastity time lock. Set the countdown, lock the key away, and remove the possibility of negotiation entirely. For self-managed Locktober or for a keyholder who wants to add a layer of inevitability, this is the piece that changes the game.

Buy these regardless of budget

Lubricant. More than you think you need.

A spare key, kept somewhere accessible. Treat this as a safety item, whatever the dynamic.

Something for cleaning that reaches into awkward places while the device stays on.

One last thing

Order everything by mid-September. Give yourself time to try the device, adjust the ring, and wear it for a few short sessions before the month starts. Going into October 1st already knowing how it feels is what carries you through the first week.
