Locktober Day 19: Talk to Someone Who Is Locked Too

Locktober Day 19: Talk to Someone Who Is Locked Too

Day nineteen of my 31-day series for men locking up alone. Yesterday you faced the wall. Today you find out you are sharing it with someone.

Your task today

Have one real conversation with another man doing Locktober. Choose whichever of these feels right:

Reach out directly. Find someone in your community whose check-ins you have been following, ideally someone around the same day as you. Send a friendly message. Tell him what day you are on, how you are finding it, and ask how he is doing. Offer one tip that has helped you, and ask for one of his.

Or reply properly. If a private message feels like too much, find three check-in posts from men who are struggling and write each of them a thoughtful reply. More than a quick "you got this." Share something real from your own month.

If the conversation goes well, suggest checking in with each other every few days until October 31st. An accountability partner for the final stretch is one of the best things you can have when you are doing this alone.

Write in your log who you spoke to, what you shared, and how it felt.

Remember, you can always come to my insta, my goal is to post other men's stories, questions, experiances anonymously on my page, so everyone can feel supported.

Why this matters

Locking up alone can get lonely around now. You have spent nearly three weeks keeping a private commitment that only you know about in your daily life. Talking to someone who already understands is a real relief.

Helping someone else also helps you. When you tell another man how you got through day eighteen, you remind yourself at the same time. Giving support tends to strengthen your own commitment as much as it strengthens theirs.

And for twelve more days, you will have someone who notices if you go quiet. That is a keyholder's job, and for the rest of the month a fellow locked man can share it.

Keep it safe and respectful

Stay anonymous. Use your community account, and keep your real name, face, workplace, and location out of the conversation. Keep it respectful. Match the other person's tone, and only share anything explicit if you have both clearly agreed to it. Trust your instincts. If someone pushes for photos, personal details, or money, end the conversation and report the account.

The vast majority of men in these communities are there for exactly what you are: support, honesty, and someone who gets it.

Tomorrow: your second rotation day. In the meantime, visit my instagram for more locktober content, send me your story, questions, and read about other people's experience.
