Locktober Day 20: Second Rotation Day
Share
Day twenty of my 31-day series for men locking up alone. Eleven days left. Today you give your skin another break, and you decide which device will carry you to the finish.
Your task today
During today's hygiene window, take a longer rest of thirty minutes to an hour with nothing on. Clean both devices, check your skin carefully, and then switch.
If you rotated on day nine and have been in your backup since, go back to your original, or try something new if you have it. If you only had one device on day nine and a second has arrived since, today is the day to put it on.
Then do something you could only do after twenty days: compare.
Your device review
Go through your log and look at the comfort scores and skin notes for each device you have worn this month. Then answer these questions:
-
Which device gave you the highest comfort scores?
-
Which one left your skin calmest?
-
Which one did you forget you were wearing during a normal day?
-
What specific feature made the difference? The ring shape, the weight, the length, the material, the lock type, the ventilation?
Write the answers down. Then choose the device you will wear for the final eleven days, and keep the other ready for a rest day if you need one.
Trying something different
If you have worn the same style all month and you still have plenty in you, today is a good moment to switch it up, if you own something different. A soft silicone cage after steel, or a harness instead of a cage. On day nine I suggested first-timers stay with what they know. Twenty days in, you know your body far better, and a change in sensation can make the last stretch feel new again.
If you are feeling fragile after the wall, stay with what works. The final eleven days are about comfort and finishing.
Why this matters
By now you know more about what your body needs from a device than you did before, and that knowledge comes from twenty days of real experience. That knowledge is worth writing down. The feature you identified today is exactly what to look for the next time you buy, whether that is a new device for a future Locktober or the one you give yourself as your finishing reward.
And the rest window matters as much as it did on day nine. Your skin has been working for twenty days. Moving the pressure points now is how you keep it comfortable all the way to October 31st.
Today's safety check
Treat the switch like a fresh start. Check the ring fit before you close the lock, and look closely at your skin again tonight for any new pressure points.
Tomorrow: an evening with your phone switched off. In the meantime, visit my instagram for more locktober content, send me your story, questions, and read about other people's experience.
