Locktober Day 22: Five Things This Month Has Shown You

Day twenty-two of my 31-day series for men locking up alone. You are at the far edge of the wall now. For most men, this is the last of the hardest days. So today, before the finish comes into view, you stop and take stock of what the month has given you.

Your task today

Write down five things this month has shown you. One for each of these areas, as honestly and specifically as you can:

  1. Your body. Something you learned about how it responds. Your body map from day seventeen, how your skin handles long wear, how you sleep, which device suits you.

  2. Your mind. Something about how you think, cope, or focus. Maybe the phone-free evening, or what surfaced in the quiet.

  3. Your desire. Something you understand now about what you actually crave. Look back at the theme you found on day eleven.

  4. Your habits. A pattern you noticed in yourself and changed, or want to change. Your dopamine audit from day five is a good place to start.

  5. Yourself. Something about who you are when you commit to something hard and keep going.

When you have all five, read them out loud. It feels a little odd, and it makes them land.

Why this matters

For the last week, the whole month has probably felt like endurance. Getting through the evening, waiting out the urge, holding on until tomorrow. That is what the wall does. It narrows everything down to simply lasting.

Today pulls you back out. It reminds you that this month has been doing something the whole time, even on the days that felt like nothing but waiting. Writing it down turns twenty-two days of discipline into knowledge you get to keep.

I opened my post on why chastity is the next big thing with a line I believe completely: I'm Eastern European, we don't do things for vanity, everything has to have a purpose. Today is where you find the purpose in your month, in your own words. Whatever brought you here, pleasure, discipline, curiosity, or something deeper, you have been learning the whole way through.

Keep your list

Put your five things somewhere you will see them over the final nine days. Next to your finishing reward is a good spot. On the days that still feel long, they remind you what the waiting is for.

And congratulations. The worst of the month is very likely behind you.

Tomorrow: checking in on the challenge you set yourself on day fifteen. In the meantime, visit my instagram for more locktober content, send me your story, questions, and read about other people's experience.
