Locktober Day 23: The Challenge You Set Yourself

Locktober Day 23: The Challenge You Set Yourself

Day twenty-three of my 31-day series for men locking up alone. On day fifteen, at the halfway point, you set yourself one challenge outside the device, something slightly beyond your comfort zone, to finish by today. Today you find out how it went.

Your task today

Open your log to day fifteen and read the challenge you wrote down. Then choose the path that fits where you are.

If you have done it. Write it up properly in your log. What you did, how it felt while you were doing it, and how it feels now that it is finished. Then celebrate it. Tell your accountability partner, (or me)  post it in your community, or simply sit with the fact that you did something hard while locked, during the hardest stretch of the month.

If it is still in progress. Today is the day to finish it. Clear time this evening and complete it, or take the biggest single step you can toward it. A conversation you have been putting off can happen today. A project can reach its next real milestone today.

If it turned out bigger than you expected. That happens. Break it down honestly. Write the next concrete step and a new date for it, and take that step today. The aim is progress you can see, finished on your own terms.

Why this matters

The device holds your body to a promise automatically. It is locked, and the key is out of reach, so keeping that promise mostly takes care of itself. The challenge you set on day fifteen worked differently. The only thing holding you to it was your own word.

That is exactly the kind of discipline this month is really building. Being locked for thirty-one days is impressive. Carrying that same commitment into something unlocked, something you had to choose again every single day, is where it starts changing the rest of your life.

It also shows you where all that redirected energy went. On days ten and twelve you started putting it into your body and your hands. Today you see what it has built.

Post your check-in

Share your week three update in your community: day twenty-three, how you came through the wall, and what you did with your challenge. Men who are still stuck around day eighteen will read it, and your post might be exactly what gets one of them through.

Two days from now, the final phase begins.

Tomorrow: an honest check-in with yourself. In the meantime, visit my instagram for more locktober content, send me your story, questions, and read about other people's experience.
