Locktober Day 29: Keep Something From This Month
Share
Day twenty-nine of my 31-day series for men locking up alone. Two days left. Before the month ends, you gather up what it left behind and keep it somewhere safe.
Your task today
Find an envelope, a folder, or a small box, and collect the pieces of your Locktober into it. Everything you have written and kept this month belongs together:
-
Your day one sentence, and the new reason you added on day fifteen if it changed.
-
The letter from day fourteen, written to your future self.
-
The letter from day twenty-five, written back to day one.
-
Your log, or a copy of it.
-
Your body map from day seventeen.
-
Your five things from day twenty-two.
-
Anything physical. A broken envelope seal, a used numbered plastic lock, the note with your screen time passcode.
Leave out one thing: the sealed plan for October 31st. That stays with your key until the end.
Label the outside with the year, something simple like Locktober 2026, and add one line in your log about what it felt like to put it all together.
Why this matters
Memory smooths things out. A year from now, you will remember that you did Locktober, and probably very little of what it actually felt like. The nerves on day one, how heavy day eighteen was, the quiet evening with your phone off, the moment you realised what you had been craving all along. The details are exactly the part worth keeping.
Putting it all in one place also turns a month of private effort into something you can hold. That matters, especially when you did this alone. You were the only one who saw every day of it, and this box becomes its witness.
And next September, when you are deciding whether to do it again, you will open it and read your own words, which will tell you more clearly than anything what the month is worth.
Keep it private
Store it somewhere secure that only you can reach. A locked drawer is ideal. If you want a photo of anything, keep it to the device or the objects, and store it somewhere private and offline. This box is yours alone.
Almost there
Two more days. Enjoy them. You have earned the view from here. <3
