Locktober Day 8: Wear It Under Your Work Clothes
Share
Day eight of my 31-day series for men locking up alone. Welcome to week two. The device is starting to feel familiar, so today we take it out into your ordinary life and let it come along for a full day.
Your task today
Wear your device through a complete normal day out of the house. Work, errands, the commute, lunch, a meeting, gym, whatever your day holds. Pay attention to how it feels in each setting, and write a few notes in your log tonight about the moments you noticed it most.
If you already work from home, go out for at least half the day. The point is to wear it among other people.
Why this matters
There is something about walking around locked while everyone around you carries on unaware that is part of the appeal for a lot of men. The small private secret you carry through a completely ordinary day. You sit in a meeting, order a coffee, answer emails, and underneath all of it you are locked, and the key is out of your reach. Sounds intriguing, isn't it?
It also teaches you that your device fits into your life. Many men spend week one assuming it will be obvious to everyone. A day out usually proves the opposite, and that confidence carries you through the rest of the month.
How to dress for it
-Trousers: Regular or loose fit. Very slim or tapered trousers are the ones that show an outline.
-Underwear: Supportive briefs or snug boxer briefs keep everything in place without pressing the device against you.
-Top: Something that covers your waistband helps when you bend or stretch.
-Device: A low-profile cage with an integrated lock is ideal. An external padlock can catch on fabric and tap against things as you move.
Practical moments
-The bathroom. Sitting down is the easiest option and keeps things clean. If you prefer standing, take your time and use tissue after.
-Long hours sitting. Shift position and stand up every hour or so. It keeps blood flowing and stops pressure building in one spot.
-Changing rooms. Most people in a changing room are focused entirely on themselves. A device under a pair of briefs attracts far less attention than it feels like from the inside.
-Security and metal detectors. If your day involves one, a polycarbonate, ABS, or silicone device passes through quietly. Metal ones will set it off.
Today's safety check
Carry your spare key with you, or make sure you can reach it quickly if something goes wrong while you are out. If you feel sharp pain, numbness, or coldness at any point in the day, head somewhere private and take it off. That rule applies everywhere, including at work.
Tomorrow: your first rotation day. In the meantime, visit my instagram for more locktober content, send me your story, questions, and read about other people's experience.
